Here’s a starter for ten – what do you consider is the most important piece of equipment in your tackle box … hooks and leads exempt?

After thinking long and hard … all I can come up with is elasticised cotton.

Anybody else out there with any ideas?

With the amount of ‘roker’ you’ve had this year Steve … I would have thought it would be a new reel!

Welcome to the site

Did I ever tell you about the time I unravelled my balaclava.

Remember the old elastic cotton … used to come in two colours – red and yellow – and was so thick you could use the same piece three or four times before it broke.

I remember being a regular visitor to the haberdashery department of woolworths as a teenager to source the magic elestic cotton. On one ocassion I could only get it in pink, any way next trip out I had a 2 pound black bream from the pier and as a result pink became the prefered cotton colour for me for a while. With hindsight perhaps the peeler crab may have had a bigger part in my catch than the cotton.

What did you catch on your balaclava?
