High pressure and low tides makes it difficult to bag-up on the normal prolific winter stocks. However, 13 anglers in last night’s three hour beach match all managed to weigh in. Although pin whiting were a pain, the larger baits managed to find those necessary dogfish to put some weight to back up the dross. Louie Smith, who fished Boundary Road, did just so and brought 3.250kg to the scales. Amongst his mainly dog catch was a codling of 800g - just to remind us that it is winter. Tim Flagg’s 1.720kg just pipped Fred Leache’s 1.630kg bag for second and third place. Close behind was Brian Smith with 1.610kg and John Harman’s 1.140kg. What dogfish that were caught were of better size, and Sam Collier had the heaviest at 860g. Four flat fish were brought to the scales with the best one going to Dave Andrew’s dab of 190g.

Well done to Louie for a convincing win on the night

I now have final table for Pier/Beach Championship for 2013, this is calculated from the best 10 points score by each angler but should be regarded as provisional as they haven't been checked yet.
1st Luke Hutton 74
2nd Dave Andrews 72
3rd Tim Flagg 59.5
4th Ben Hackett 58.5
5th Saul Page 58
6th Steve Hackett 55

The major mover following at the last comp was Tim who climbed up to 3rd place from 6th with his 2nd place finish. Many congratulations to Luke on winning the Championship.
