Continuous rain throughout the day stopped and the skies cleared briefly before dusk; and that was enough to make the eleven competitor’s task easier in the latest 1919 beach match. As the tide made, bites became brisker and triple shots of whiting came ashore with regularity. Unfortunately, for some, getting a sizable out of these was proving difficult. However, it would be the occasional dog that made the difference in this close run match. All of the anglers caught a quantity of fish into double figures, and it was Ken Withington’s 27 fish for 5.870kg that gave him first place. The following positions were very close with John Green, 4.490kg, for second and Dave Andrews, who equalled him fishwise with 19, just getting pipped with 4.140kg for third place. Fourth and fifth slots went to Brian Smith, 4.120kg and Steve Hackett’s 3.930kg. Heaviest fish was a dog of 540g caught by Brian Smith and from a handful of dabs, Mike Cox managed one of 320g for heaviest flat.

Well just one match to go on the Beach Championship for 2013 and time for an update on the points scores, there should be regarded as provisional as they haven't been checked yet.
1st Dave Andrews 65
2nd Luke Hutton 64.5
3rd Andy Manning 64
4th Steve Hackett 60
5th Saul Page 57
6th= Dave Chamberlain 49
6th= Brian Smith 48
However only the best 10 results for the year count for the championship so some anglers have 2 drop two results which can make considerable difference to the final placing's , the adjusted table of best 9 results which gives the true picture going in to the last match is below. With a maximum score of 15 points available that's 7 anglers in contention for a place on the podium when battle resumes on 18th December.

1st Dave Andrews 62.5
2nd Andy Manning 61
3rd Luke Hutton 60.5
4th= Steve Hackett 57
4th= Saul Page 57
6th= Dave Chamberlain 47
6th=Brain Smith 47

Interesting idea a 10 kg club, might be some mileage in it - I wonder if the club would run to a few badges ( the small metal ones)
