Results of the Deal Angling Club (1919) evening beach comp 21.07.10.

The north end anglers were hounded out of the action by Andy Manning and Brian Smith’s 9 smooth hounds. Andy and Brian fished Boundry Road at Kingsdown and cleaned up with 9k.520g and Brian with 7k130g. Andy also had the largest fish with smuts of 2k140g and 2k060g. Dave Andrews came third with one hound and a pout and whiting for 2k080g whilst fishing at Walmer. Other weights from Walmer end were made up of dogfish, with John Hutton getting 1k980g and Leigh Chapman 1k540g.

As for the North Deal anglers ………… zilch!

13 fished over the high tide and calm conditions.

Just to confirm North Deal is a barren as a desert- 8 of us fished a Birchington comp at Sandown last night 7.30-11. The total combined catch at the weigh in was one dog. Me I foulhooked a 15cm sole and had half a bite.
The sad thing is the comp had been moved from Ramsgate because of the lack of fish over there.

Barren is the word for it, very strange! I was quite chuffed with my two sizables and an undersize ray. The only consolation I had was that I beat John and Fred. However, got slaughtered by the rest.

Just a thought … I found there was a lot of plastic being caught on my line that night (filled up a German Kentucky Fry bag with other plastic to dump) plus a bit of weed. Considering it wasn’t a big tide I was surprised at that rubbish. Did that effect you the night before at Walmer or the following night at Sandown?

The was more weed and a bit more tide at walmer.
But yes more plastic and rubbish at Sandown-seen it a lot worse though.
