Junior Pier Festival 25th July 2010

Postby CELOCANT » Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:08 pm

Just to let you know that the Deal Angling Club (1919) Junior Pier festival is on Sunday 25th July 11am-3pm (entries taken from 9.30am). It will be held on the stem of Deal Pier for easy and safe angling for the kids. All juniors up to the age of 16 are welcome and parents/guardians can accompany and assist with casting and baiting etc. The only stipulation is that the contestant winds in his/her own fish. The festival is operated on measure and release rules.

Entry is a mere £1, which entitles free membership to the Deal Angling Club (1919) minnows; free fishing on the pier that day; free tide table; free sweets, crisps and drinks; and a big, big prize list which includes rods, reels, tackle boxes, plus lots, lots more.

This annual festival is a great day out for the kids and in past years almost everyone has caught fish and won prizes. Further details phone Pat on 01304 361248.

Forgot to tell you! If you and the kids can't make the festival in July ... the club will be doing a repeat performance on 15th August ... same place, same time.

The weather stayed sensible and 59 boys and girls turned up to fish the Deal Angling Club’s Junior Pier Festival. The tide was a little stronger than usual, however, the kids managed to cope in the measure and release competition. Quite a few small pouting were caught, although top measurement went to Alfie Peacock from Deal with a Pollock and pouting at 50cm. Second was Louise Green with 44cm and third was Lewis Simpson with 36cm. I think the photos sum it up with future anglers hooked on the sport. The next DAC (1919) Pier Festival will be on Sunday August 15th. All photos are with Parents consent.
