Welcome to Deal Angling Club (1919)
President: P G Heath. Chairman: T Sudds.
Deal Angling Club was formed in the year 1919 from which its name was derived. Due to the war in 1939 the Club ceased to exist, but was reformed in 1946 with funds totaling 3 shillings 101/2 pence, and a handful of interested people. Today, the club is one of the most successful and progressive around the coast with its own fully licensed Club house on the Sea Front, catering for 800 senior members and 120 juniors. The annual membership fee is: - Senior £4, Senior Citizens £1.50, Juniors Free! and Associate members 50p.
The 1919 Club is very active in promoting monthly Competitions. This year, over 60 competitions have been organised for the members on Boat, Beach and Pier. The Annual Festivals are always well supported and every kind of angler is catered for. Last year's two day Boat festival was no exception with the team event being especially well supported with anglers from all over the country. It was given an international flavour with teams from Holland and Belgium with the prize giving on the Sunday evening.
The Annual Pier and Beach Festival has now been combined with our Christmas Competition, so apart from the 17 Trophies and prizes, the top 20 aggregate weights receive Turkeys and the top 3 win Christmas Hampers together with the optional cash pools. The club also rents a cabin on the bottom deck of the South side of the Pier, This cabin is available for Club members use only, with running water for washing and a paymeter for lighting and tea making facilities. On application and presentation of their membership card anglers may purchase a key from "The Focsle" tackle shop.
The Junior section is run for both boys and girls under the age of 16. Pier Competitions are held every month under the full supervision of an adult. There are annual Junior Pier Festivals in which there are lots of trophies and prizes to be won.
If the (1919) sounds like the sort of Club you would like to belong to, get in touch with us. We will be happy to see a new face.
